Surrogate: Mother to Myself holds the tension surrounding the suicide of artist Pamela Djerassi on this ranch in Woodside, CA and was installed as a memorial through Allegra's work with Pamela's surviving family. "Mother to Myself" is taken from the title of her book of poetry.

Installed at the Headlands Center for the Arts - a former American military base on Miwok land. "Surrogate: Decommissioning" responds to architecture designed in WWII to surveil the American border at the Pacific ocean for an attack from Japanese military forces which never came.
